Fox Cable Networks Tops Ad-Supported Network Groups, Receives 24 Mark Awards from the Cable & Television Association for Marketing

National Geographic Channel Takes Home a CTAM Record 16 Mark Awards

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 – The Cable & Television Association for Marketing (CTAM) announced that Fox Cable Networks (FCN) had received 24 (five gold, 10 silver, and nine bronze) of the organization’s 2009 Mark Awards. Leading the charge for FCN was the National Geographic Channel, which captured 16 Mark Awards and surpassed the previous record total for a single basic cable network.

The Mark Awards is the premiere cable marketing competition, recognizing outstanding achievement and excellence in marketing from networks, cable companies and suppliers.

The National Geographic Channel earned four gold, three silver, and three bronze Mark Awards for initiatives that involved program promotion and tune in. The network also garnered six Mark Awards in the press campaigns categories, featuring efforts for programming such as “Dogtown: Saving the Michael Vick Dogs,” “Expedition Week 2008,” “On Board Air Force One,” and “The Girl with Eight Limbs.”

The affiliate marketing group for Fox Cable Networks totaled six Mark Awards, including a Gold medal performance for its FCN HD direct mailer. Big Ten Network was recognized for best brand image and positioning with their 2008 football and basketball branding spots. SPEED also received a Mark Award for program promotion and tune in for multiple programs.
