Milan, Italy, Jan. 8, 2006 –
Sky Italia CEO, Tom Mockridge, today announced that Sky Italia’s subscriber
total had exceeded 3.6 million during the first week of 2006.
He said: “Sky is very pleased that now more than 3.6 million families in
Italy view our channels, and we are gratified by the continuing vote of
confidence we are receiving from Italian consumers.”
Sky enjoyed strong sales in the run-up to Christmas, and especially strong
viewership of movies and its general entertainment networks over the
Christmas break.
“I am confident that with the recommencement of the Italian Serie A season
this weekend and the on-going build-up to the 2006 World Cup – where Sky
will be the only place to view all games – Sky’s growth will continue
strongly into the New Year”.
