London, November 13, 2008 –
News Corporation announced today that Marty Pompadur is stepping
down as Executive Vice President of News Corporation and Chairman of News
Corp. Europe. In his decade with the Company, Mr. Pompadur has been
instrumental in creating three successful businesses: News Corp. Europe’s
television station group in Central and Eastern Europe; its radio station
group in Russia; and the leading outdoor advertising company in Russia and
other emerging markets.
Mr. Pompadur will remain an external advisor to the company. The planned
transition of his responsibilities began in May 2008 when News Corp.
appointed Tom Mockridge Chief Executive European Television.
Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of News Corporation
commented: “Marty has played an important role building unique broadcast
operations in Central and Eastern Europe and the number one outdoor
advertising operation in emerging Europe. We will miss him as a colleague,
but wish him every success in the future.”
Mr. Pompadur said: “My initial commitment to the Company grew to last a
decade. It’s been a wonderful ten years, however, at this point in my life,
I have a number of personal goals yet to fulfill requiring me to step back
from News Corporation.”
